Me
My name is Matt Cleaver, and I graduated from John Brown University in 2006 with a degree in Youth Ministries. I am now pursuing an M.A. in Youth and Family Ministry through Luther Seminary’s Distributive Learning program.
I am the Director of Youth and Ministry Development at Hope Lutheran Church in the Dallas, TX area. Aside from spending time with my wife, who is a third-year medical student, I enjoy reading, writing, and talking theology. This blog will hopefully become an avenue for sharpening my theology (and hopefully not become an avenue for fueling my narcissism).
This blog will probably evolve over time, but right now I foresee it being a place where I can write about theology and youth ministry. I also hope to provide some valuable reviews of books that might be of interest to people in youth ministry.
My theological interests have led me to the conviction that youth ministry needs a radical new direction. As I process what that looks like through my position at my church and through theological reflection, this blog will become a path for discerning the direction youth ministry as a whole might need to take. I am convinced that the answer lies in the midst of a robust ecclesiology that could transform church as we know it. What exactly that looks like and how to get there, well, I’m not sure yet.
Feel free to email me using this page.
My name is Matt Slippy. I am a youth pastor from Cedar Rapids Iowa.
I am working on a youth ministry research project and my goal is to have at least 1000 youth pastors take an online survey found at: http://www.youthministrysurvey.com
I’m looking for youth pastors & youth workers who would be willing to take the survey. It should take 15-20 min.
Also, I am surveying parents of teens and youth ministry students at colleges and seminaries.
Any help in promoting the site through your connections, denominations, and other avenues to promote this project would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help and encouragement.
