No, you’ll just have to tell people to listen to the podcast when they call you a heretic.

    It’s an advanced marketing scheme.

I’m sure some consultants are cookie cutter. What i know is that our church was much healthier when we had a church consultant (we no longer have one) who was asking us question and teaching our congregation what it means to make disciples. I liked to think of the consultant we had as a mentor for our senior pastor, and everyone should have a mentor. I think it can be done very well and it can be done very poorly. It was done well here.

@rusty i think that is what matt and i both would agree with that statement. someone who comes in from the outside with questions and a fresh pair of eyes is ALWAYS a great idea.

what i have found hard in those situations, is a willingness of the congregation to hear what is being said

I would suggest adding to your blog the ‘buttons’ for iTunes or the instructions. Your RSS feed is only a couple of extra clicks (when you know how), but I did not know how to use and it took me an extra day to get you added to my iTunes. And I have been using PC’s since before Apple ][‘s and marketing websites since 1995.

I mention this only because it looks like you have some good content that I encourage others to look at. Keep it up.

    Hey Bob,

Thanks for your thoughts. We will be adding said buttons when/if we decide we want to keep doing this regularly. We might also have something up our sleeve. ;)
