Eisegesis – the interpretation of a text (as of the Bible) by reading into it one’s own ideas

    When I was in New Testament book Study with Dr C (before I dropped it) she had us practice eisegesis on a the passage in John when Philip and Nathanael meet Jesus. It was hilarious what people came up with.
