:)
I did sense in the "whiney" blog that you had another question and I do think the idea of using our time well in life and in ministry is key to our sanctification and our growth in holiness. Both Genesis and Paul underscore this idea. Holiness is rooted in time. As you recall, the first thing God calls holy is the seventh day. So, Matt, your question and consideration is rock solid. I think one of the best ways to invest time in youth ministry is helping them critique culture in the light of scripture--and that you do very, very well. Keep up the good work!

Matt,
I appreciated your comments here and in the previous related posts. Thansk for sharing your honest thoughts. I attempt to do worship on some Sunday evening youth gatherings and it's always a questions whether or not it is effective. But the same is true, of course, for Sunday morning worship. Some weeks we "get it" and some weeks we don't. Some weeks the sermon connects with us and sometimes it doesn't. All the more reason we need to worship regularly since we never know which worship experience might be the one that connects with our hearts.

...i'v tried typing something four or five times now...and just not feeling in a thought provoking response...i'm drained after this past week of good byes...so simply with your question of are we spending our time wisely...thats the question of the year i would say. but i think and speak for myself and this is where in ministry to youth and i would say even to parents/adults... how do you draw the line of teaching and worship. there comes a point in discipling that you teach the aspects of worship through worship...at least for me in leading through and by example... but when and how does it seperate from teaching and then become desire? thats a huge question...but its just got me thinking about how we get from the stages of them learning why they do and them doing it for the pleasure of God...does God not receive pleasure from them learning it and making mistakes...i hope he does...but after my time here in Killyleagh, Northern Ireland its really made me ask these same questions...but i think i got a few different answers than you though...February may not come quick enough..
hey look at that...i wrote a comment
