For some reason, those who are critics of Tony Jones tend to get caught up with the idea that he doesn’t believe in “absolute truth”. And of course, since “absolute truth” is one of those non-negotiable, in-the-bible, part-of-historical-orthodoxy, make-it-or-break-it kind of beliefs, he gets cast by these people as a heretic (as a totally random aside, I think that sarcasm is a spiritual gift).
However, I come to you today with the news that Tony believes in absolute truth. Last night at the NYWC at the “Late Night Theology Discussion”, he said that something was absolute truth. So there you have it. He’s orthodox now. You heard it here first.

Um… that’s a pretty lame way to defend someone.
I heard him say something was absolute truth, therefore he does.
His book is pretty clear He doesn’t believe in absolute truth.
He says “Orthodoxy is made up of the opinions of the people in the conversation.”
He says the church needs to become reflect the church around it.

I think we were talking about Left Behind that night and he said something along about it not being any good, and that is truth, absolute truth. Not sure why I didn’t write that two years ago.
